TPS3421: Marking code - doubts and check

Part Number: TPS3421

During production we realized that the last batch of this component has a slightly different marking than the previous one.

Also this version is not working well and is creating problems with the reset signal (two circle for pin 1).
If it is replaced with a previous component there are no problems, if it is replaced with a similar component the problems comes back.

is the marking correct? or are we facing incorrect components?

Below photos of the componets.

  • Hi Vittorio,

    Can you provide more information?

    1. Was the product purchased directly from TI? If not, was the product purchased from a TI authorized distributor?

    2. Can you provide us the distributor name?

    3. How long has this part been used in the application?  Has something changed recently to the design?

    4. Can a picture of the reel label be provided?

    Thanks!

    Ben

  • Hi Ben,

    mistery solved...
in the regularly purchased lot, there were some components bought from a broker.
I checked mark code "AC"... but probably these components are either damaged... p/n is correct.

once the right components were mounted the problem was gone.

the thing that amazes me is the extra circle on the top, I just hope they weren't fake.
sorry for the lost time and thanks for the support

  • Hi Vittorio,

    Good luck to you!

  • Hi Vittorio,

Our Quality and Reliability group has reviewed the pictures and has commented.  See below for their comment:

"We have confirmed with our Assembly & Test site for this device TPS3421 that there should only be one Pin 1 dot.  As such, if the customer purchased the units with two Pin 1 dots from a non-authorized TI Distributor, it is highly that those units are counterfeit material."

I hope this brings more clarity to your situation.

    Ben
