TPS55288: MOSFET selection

Hi E2E,

What are the factors needed to consider in selecting the MOSFET for TPS55288? Is the on-resistance below 7mOhm acceptable? What is the Gate-Source voltage?

    Hi Carlo,

    When selecting the MOSFET for TPS55288, you have to consider below specs:

    1. The MOSFET Vgth max is better less than 3V. Because the TPS55288 driver voltage is 5V.

    2. It's trade of selecting the on-resistance. The MOSFET conduction loss is related to on-resistance, which MOSFET reverse recovery loss is related to Qrr.

    3. As TPS55288 VCC capability is 60mA, two external MOSFET driver current = 2*Qg*fsw. Make sure driver current is less than 60mA.
