TPS55010: Typical application in datasheet is different with webench design

Part Number: TPS55010

Hi,

My customer need assistance.

https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps55010.pdf

On page 17, Table 1, 3.3 V to 3.3 V at 0.3 A, the RHS is 8.25 kΩ, RT is 511 kΩ.

While I use Webench to make a design:

https://webench.ti.com/appinfo/webench/scripts/SDP.cgi?ID=970E42CC75D584FC

The resistors have different values.

And specs of the transformer are different.

I am sure if there is any reason or mistake.

Please help. Thanks.

  • Hi Chong,

    Both Webench and the datasheet recommend very close values for the feedback network on the primary and the transformer turns. RT is the resistor for setting the switching frequency via the RT/CLK pin. The value of this is up to the customer to set.

    Webench:

    RHS= 10.1KΩ, RLS =10.2KΩ, Transformer turns ratio = 2.45

    Datasheet:

    RHS= 8.25KΩ, RLS =10KΩ, Transformer turns ratio = 2.5

    The datasheet already recommends a transformer for this particular case - so may be easier for the customer to follow this suggestion.

    Best regards,

    Varun
