Dear Engineer,

We are using BQ24600, as the working frequency is high, the Ic temperature is high.

We want to use an IC with lower frequency. which is pin to pin with BQ24600.

Do you have a suggestion for this issue?

    Hello,

    Both the BQ24620 and the BQ24640 are pin for pin compatible.

    The BQ24620 is a 300 kHz Lithium Phosphate charger with a different temperature profile, different battery regulation scheme (ie the FB resistors will be different, recharge different on FB pin, BATLOWV different on FB pin), and fixed precharge current compared to the BQ24600.

    The BQ24640 is a 600 kHz Super Capacitor charger with no precharge (start charge with charge regulation), no recharge threshold, no battery detection, and no termination compared to the BQ24600.

    However, have you properly used the thermal pad with thermal vias to GND to dissipate the heat? How large is your ground plane?
