TPS7B7701-Q1: What if I set the output fixed 13.5V

Part Number: TPS7B7701-Q1

HI team

I would like to ask a question about the TPS7B7701Q1 that:

If I set the output voltage of the TPS7B7701Q1 13.5V by using FB resistor divider and the battery which is the power supply for TPS7B7701Q1 is just smaller than 13.5V, what condition will the LDO do? Just bypass the power voltage like 13V or value smaller than 13.5V to the load or the LDO will not work and has no output?

Here is the simple block diagram to clarify my quesiton:

  • Hi Zirui,

TPS7B7701Q1 does not have an integrated boost circuit, so using the LDO with the condition Vin < Vout + VDO will result in dropout mode operation, where the LDO is not regulating the output voltage and the output is Vin - VDO. In this mode of operation there is no PSRR and the LDO is basically doing nothing.

    Regards,

    Nick
