Hi Team, 

my customer wants to replace a 22uF tantalum capacitor at 1CT. What is a proper alternative capacitor to achieve a delay time of 440ms.

    Hi Jan,

    Is there a reason why the customer has chosen this supervisor?  We do have newer supervisors that can provide better performance.  We do have the TPS37B or TPS3704 if the customer is interested in multi-channel supervisors.

    To answer your question, the equation to calculate the time delay is:

    Therefore, to achieve 440ms the capacitor needs to be:

    0.440 = 20,000 * CT

    CT = 22uF

    I would suggest using a ceramic capacitor with a voltage rating of 10V or higher for better capacitance derating over voltage applied to the capacitor.
