TPS62816-Q1: Transient and output regulation performance for Spread Spectrum Clocking

Part Number: TPS62816-Q1

Hi Expert,

The customer is asking whether the output transient response and output regulation will have the derivation between SSC enabled and SSC disabled.

Thanks

  • Hello Eric,

Once Spread spectrum clocking is enabled, the switching frequency is randomly changed in PWM, typical frequency variation is between nominal switching frequency and up to 288kHz.

Knowing this, you can refer for the output regulation to the Output voltage versus Output current in PWM (like Figure 10-13).

To get best transient response you can use the comp setting 2, please have a look at the last line of Table 9-1.

If the amount of capacitance is a concern, comp setting 1 is also available for a lower output capacitive bank.

You should not observe consistent derivation nor variation if any due to SSC enabled, this would be caused by the randomness of the frequency variation.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thanks a lot!

    Regards,
    Dorian
