SN75437A: Power and Current Rating

Hi,

Good day.

Our customer is using the SN75437A and they need clarification on the capability of this device. Kindly refer below.

Each of the 4 drivers can sink 500mA - but can they all sink 500mA at the same time? Usage will be at room temp where the part is recommended to be used at less than 2 W - it seems that each channel would be contributing 0.25W under that condition - so it seems to me that they all can be used at the same time. The datasheet is somewhat vague on the topic.

I just have an application that would require all 4 channels to be active at the same time and want to verify the suitablility.

    Hi Cedrick, 

    All four sections of these circuits may conduct rated current (0.75A/channel) simultaneously as long as the power dissipation averaged over a short time interval falls within the continuous dissipation ratings (2.075W for 25C free-air temperature) shown below:
