TPS92612-Q1: Low duty flickering

Part Number: TPS92612-Q1

I need to drive my LEDs with a very low duty, typically 0,1%. With a PWM frequency of 1KHz (1000uS period) and a PWM input of 1uS positive, 999uS Gnd, the LEDs flicker, When I look at the signals, I see that LED output sometimes does not turn on. Even if there is a signal at the PWM input, LED output does not activate for that period. When duty is increased to 2%, there is no flickering. (PWM positive width: 20 uS) How can I drive my LED with 0,1% duty?

Please see image. CH1: PWM input with 1mS period, 1uS positive. CH2: LED output with cycles skipped.

  • Hi,

Please refer to datasheet 'Timing Requirements'. With this positive period, PWM rising edge delay and PWM falling edge delay could not meet the requirement. So you can't drive LED with this low duty under this frequency.
