LP2981: current limit and thermal shutdown

Part Number: LP2981

Hi team

I understand that LP2981 has current limit function and thermal shutdown, but not sure when these would work.

Could you tell the specific value when the current limit & thermal shutdown would operate?

Regards,

Noriyuki Takahashi

  • Hi Noriyuki,

The EC table specifies the peak output current (i.e. the current limit) for both the LP2981 and LP2981A devices:

Thermal shutdown for a part with abs max Tj=150C is typically 150C - 175C. It is not always a precise number (especially with these older devices), but it is guaranteed that the thermal shutdown is above 150C, which is why we say to not exceed 150C.

    Regards,

    Nick
