Hi,

We are planning to use BQ27510-G1, but it looks that this device is not recommended for New Designs.

So, we want to use BQ27510-G2 device. Here I have two questions with respect to this device

  1. With respect Host Controller Software Implementation , are there any major changes that we have to do changing the battery monitor from BQ27510-G1 to BQ27510-G2?
  2. When we tried to order this device through Digi-Key it says the component might be available by 20-JULY-2011. Which is not acceptable to our customers.
  3. Can we get samples from TI for the development of the proto? If so what is the lead time?

    I can't help with the samples or delivery, but regarding question number 1, there should be no changes necessary to your host controller.  The registers you read are probably the same.  If you have developed any golden files for the G1, however, you would need to recreate them with bqEASY for G2.

    Also, if you can get your hands on some G1 material, you can flash them to be G2.  They are physically identical, but only differ in the firmware programmed onto them.
