TPS53353: Replace solution

Part Number: TPS53353
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS53355,

Dear team

At present, there is a project use TPS53353, compare the datasheet. TPS53353/TPS53355 is p2p can be shared, only the difference in current?

So the customer would like to double confirm if it was originally used TPS53353 to replace material TPS53355, is it OK?

Or is there anything else that needs attention or modification?

Many thanks

Denny

  • Hi Denny,

The TPS53355 and TPS533553 are p2p compatible and may be used in place of one-another. The main caution is that the power-stage MOSFETs are different (with the TPS53355 having a higher current power stage). The RDS(on) value of the low-side MOSFET is used to calculate the current limit threshold, and this value is different on both parts.

    TPS53353 Rtrip setting

    TPS53355 Rtrip Setting:

As you may see the sizing of the Rtrip resistor for each part uses a slightly different RDS(on) value. If the new OCP (overcurrent protection) level is acceptable when the TPS53355 is used in place of the TPS53353, then the part may be used as a replacement. Otherwise, I would recommend updating the Rtrip value in order to achieve the desired OCP level.
