TPS65094: Can BUCK3 output be turned off in a software-controlled way

Part Number: TPS65094

Hi Sir,

Can BUCK3 output of TPS65094x be turned off in a software-controlled way?

Our customer's new project does not use BUCK3 output, which is equivalent to empty load. However, during the test, it was found that the PMIC would not work normally due to the empty load of BUCK3, so we want to shut down BUCK3 output by software.

Thanks,

Kind Regards

  • Hi Lumina,

It is possible to disable BUCK3 by using the BUCK3_DISABLEB bit in the VR_CTRL1 register. I am a little confused as to what would be causing the device to not operate without a load on BUCK3, can you clarify what is meant by that?

    Best regards,

    Layne J

  • Hi Layne,

The problem is that after the TPS65094 is powered on, it will lost the power immediately and the PCH PWROK does not work. There is NTC resistance in the system, which will not work until the notebook turned on. But after heating the PCBA which have the problem that cannot turning on, then it could be turned on normally.

    Thanks,

    Kind Regards

  • Hi Lumina,

After being able to control Buck 3, is there still an issue with this device or is the NTC resistance preventing proper functionality?

    Thanks,

    Daniel W
