BQ40Z50-R2: How to get the register at 0x05 At Rate Time To Full to update

Hi,

We have the BQ40Z50 in our packs, initially with R2 and later migrated to R3 firmware. In our system, we have a micro controller to communicate with the BQ40Z50 and reports the battery's health.

Other registers work, except the register 0x05 AtRateTimeToFull(), we always read out 65535 (0xFFFF) even the battery is being charged.

How do we get this register to update to the real time status?

Hello Tai,

You will need to write a value to AtRate() register before reading. The AtRate() register is used in calculation of 0x05 AtRateTimeToFull().

Thank you very much for your quick response. We will modify our firmware to set the 0x04 AtRate() register.

Just to be clear, the AtRate() is the value the charger charges the battery during CC/CV phase, is this correct? If not, please advise.

Hello Tai,

You can write AtRate() to any value and get a result. Writing the average current value during entire CC/CV phase will give most useful results
