TPS3838: Pull up resistor

Hi,

Good day.

Our customer wants to use the TPS3838. The datasheet states that the minimum pull-up resisitor value can be computed as V/50uA but reference design uses 10K resistor to pull-up to 3.3V.

Now, they want to know what should they use as pull-up for 1.8V. Can you please let us know? Thank you.

Hi Cedrick,

The TPS3838 is an older part and its specs are great but not as good as the newer products that we have to offer. Is it possible we can promote our new products like TLV840, TPS3840, or TPS3899.

Regarding the pull-up resistor calculation, please see below:

(VDD - VOL) / IOL = Rpullup

(1.8V - 0.4V) / 1mA = 1.4Kohms

The minimum Rpullup to meet the EC table VOL spec of 0.4V is 1.4Kohms. This means any resistance that is greater than 1.4Kohms will meet the EC spec. So, 10Kohms is a good value to use.
