BQ25672: replacing LTC4162-L at low currents

Part Number: BQ25672

Hi Team,

Customer is using LTC4162-L in a low power application.

Vin = 15V
Vout = 5 - 8.4V (2 cells)
Charge current = 0 - 800mA

Customer likes the features of BQ25672 but efficiency is slightly lower at <500mA compared to LTC4162-L.

Would you recommend another device for this low current application?

    Hi Stefan,

    The BQ25672 is the best option. PFM mode should give the highest efficiency at light load. One way to improve efficiency might be to add external Schottky diode from SW1 to GND.   Compared to all of the external components that the LTC4162 requires, BQ25672 is a more compact option.
