BQ25723EVM: Start charging of cells without programming

Hi,

I'm trying to evaluate the BQ25723 by charging two 18650 cells with the Evaluation board (BQ25723EVM). If I understand the datasheet correctly the default charging voltage for 2S should be 8.4V. It also states that the charging will start when the host writes the charging current. At the moment I don't have a EV2400 Communication Kit available. Is there a way of starting the charging without connecting the I2C header?

Hi Simon,

Unfortunately no not really. You need to initiate the communication first to start charging. The I2C header works with any I2C commands so any CPU is fine, but the EV2400 does make evaluation a lot easier.
