LM5122: High Quiscent current LM5122

Part Number: LM5122

1. We used LM5122 for input 12V and output : 12.3V.

2. WHen we connect input 12V we get 12.3V at the output. Issue is when no load is connected even then current drawn from supply is 170mA? What could be issue here?

We made schematic using Webbench only.

  • Hi Mec,

thank you for using the E2E forum.

When you probe the switch node SW, i assume you would still see some switching to get the input of 12 V to the output of 12.3 V.

This is the main reason for the current you will see here. If you make the calculation of the switching losses for the FET that should you give a number close to the current you are measuring here.

To get lower number you might can check for FET which have a lower gate charge.

    Best regards,

     Stefan

  • Hi Mec,

i have not seen an update on this thread for the last 10 days.
If the issue is sovled it would be great to press the is solved button.
