Hi
My customer is using the BQ40Z50-R2 in a battery pack provided by their pack manufacturer.
They find that the R3 and R4 version is now available:
https://www.ti.com/tool/BQ40Z50-R3-DEVICE-FW?keyMatch=&tisearch=search-everything&usecase=software
They have this question:
Is it possible to upgrade to the R3 and R4 version in their system, meaning programming over SMBus Host ?
They see that they can load FW using bq Studio:
Can you point to helpful collateral as to how to do this ?
Meaning "getting started" instructions for doing this outlining the necessary steps for this process ?
Best regards
Ueli
Hello Ueli,
Yes they can update the firmware in the system from SMBus host, they will need to make a new golden image file like they did for the R2 (they cannot use the same one because the memory locations change)
After that, they can export a flash stream file and use the Gauge Communication app note to load in the flash stream file. www.ti.com/.../slua801

Hello Wyatt
Thank you for the quick reply.
.... and I assume you meant " they cannot use the same one because the memory locations change ...."
Best regards
Ueli
Hello Ueli,
Yes that's correct, I edited my post to reflect that.
Sincerely,
