USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01: Configuration Not Working as Sink

I'm in the same boat.

The Binary config tool is producing bad binaries right now and they are working to fix it.

I'm sure Chuck from TI support will chime in here but they are getting close to having this issue sorted so we can get some binaries that work and allow the EVM to work as intended.

For now if you want to get the EVM to charge you need to use the BQ Stuido software to tell the charger it's connected to a 4 cell battery pack.and the charge currents you want and then it will charger properly.

We have a new firmware release that is 95% complete in our regression flow right now that is intended to resolve these issues.  I am getting very regular updates on the progress of the regression and will be updating customers as soon as I have a 100% tested firmware in hand.  This release will soon be integrated into a future GUI release that is at least 1 week out.  We are doing much more exhaustive testing after this set of bugs.

What we are doing to address the delay between the firmware being complete and the GUI being ready, is that I will be providing configurations for customers until the GUI is ready for you to use.

If you can provide me with the JSON output that matches your configuration, I will be able to provide you with a configured binary that you can use.

You are exactly correct.  I am waiting for the final firmware regression and I will be providing configurations until the web GUI is deployed.

I received confirmation from our regression team that I will be receiving a validated release on Monday.  They have some holiday time that is factored into their release time.

I can provide you a non-production patch based on your provided configurations on Friday and a production release on Monday.

Attached is a configured full flash binary and a copy of your JSON file that I based the configuration on.

I have to copy from a calculator to our developer tool, so if any parameter is off please let me know, it is likely a copy paste error on my part.

Thank you for generating that! I tried it out today and found a bit of a mixed bag:

1) Charging worked well with a USB-PD laptop charger (65W). The charger was providing 20V @ 2.6A (with the battery charging at a lower voltage and higher current). I also could (very slowly) charge with a 5V phone charger.

2) Discharging still worked at 5V, up to 3A. However, the voltage sagged the higher the current got. For example, at 3A, the voltage was 4.63.

3) I could not switch to higher voltage discharge profiles. It appeared that the TPS25750 would cut out (voltage would drop to 0), and then restart...and start back at 5V again. Any idea what is wrong here? (I'm using a PassMark PM125 to test)

I was out of the office yesterday, so I apologize the the delay in response.

Do you happen to have a PD analyzer that you can use to show me what is happening on the PD bus?  This is very helpful in debugging such issues.

I did not put the configuration that I sent you on my EVM, so I will do that today to check to see what is going on.  It appears that the source path is not configuring correctly.

No worries, I really appreciate your support.

I did take a capture with my TotalPhase USB-PD analyzer (although I haven't really gotten very familiar with how this negotiation is supposed to work). I attached just the export as a .csv, as I was having trouble getting the .tdc to upload (I could email it if you like). 

We were wondering if for some reason it was attempting to just use the onboard 5V supply instead of sourcing current via the DC/DC.

Thanks for sending this to me.  I can see what the issue is, but I need to figure out what went wrong in the configuration.

The Sink PDO is not working as intended.

I will put this on an EVM and debug the issue before sending you the next configuration.

Still don't have a new version of the tool released.  I am working through making the configuration a 100% match to the tool that I use for internal project generation and it is not 100% correct yet.

Please create a new E2E because this one will fall off of the system in 5 days.
