Hello Team,

need your help with one of the questions from my account.

The -R2 version of bq40z50 introduced IATA Shutdown 0x00F0. What is the difference between this command and ‘regular’ shutdown 0x0010? What is recommended for transportation/storage?

Hello Needhu,

The IATA shutdown is supposed to help with the regulations for transportation of batteries.

IATA shutdown features are there for safety and to help meet the guidelines in the document below. The differences are in the TRM, section9.1 Initiating IATA Shutdown (Before Shipping).

Basically it saves the RemCap and FCC values before shutdown to be used later to meet the criteria to show it was within regulation during shipment.
