BQ25600: QON_L with VBUS still powered

Part Number: BQ25600
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25618,

Hello, I asked a similar question for the BQ25618, here: https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/1007555/bq25618-qon_l-with-vbus-still-powered

I reviewed the BQ25600 datasheet and is describes the functionality when VBUS is not present but doesn't explain what happens if it is present.

Does BATFET still go through a power cycle if VBUS is present? Does VSYS continue to get supply via VBUS during this power cycle?

  • Hi,

8.3.8.2 BATFET Enable (Exit Shipping Mode) is also valid when VBUS is present. Please refer to 8.3.8.4 QON Pin Operations on the d/s for the details.

The charger operations are complicated. It is highly recommended to get familiar with the charger operations by testing the device EVM before making customized designs.

    Thanks,

    Ning.

  • Hi Ning,

I read though this before. The situation I'm discussing is when the device is not in ship mode. So this would refer to #2 of 8.3.8.4.

In this section it specifically states, "while adapter is not plugged in". Our ask is what happens if the adapter is plugged in?

  • Hi,

The BQ25600 /QON design is different from that of BQ25618. For BQ25600, BATFET Full System Reset is only supported in battery only mode.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
