Some TI power regulators specify ambient temperature in Recommended Operating Conditions.
E.g. TPS53513 has -40~85C Ta in datasheet and WEBench tool doesn't allow a calculation above 85C. Although in below application, Tj is only 110C when Ta is 85C, which is well below max Tj (150C).
While some parts specify Tj in Recommended Operating Conditions.
E.g. TPSM82864A has -40~125C Tj in datasheet and WEBench tool allows temperature input up to 125C. Although the calculation would fail if Tj exceeds max value at given Ta.
My question is if I can ignore Ta range in Recommended Operating Conditions and focus on Tj range only.
As the example for TPS53513 above, Tj is 110C under 85C Ta. My understanding is that I can safely use it at 100C Ta (out of datasheet recommendation), since Tj is around 125C and well below the max. Could TPS53513 be used in this condition?
