UCC28C42-Q1: current control loop

Part Number: UCC28C42-Q1

Hello TI Team,

I wonder if it is possible to use the UCC28C42-Q1 and its internal current control loop to control the buck converter as a constant current source. Is such application is possible. Providing current feedback signal to the IC's  CS input is clear. I am wondering how to provide current reference value to it, directly by COMP pin or with some additional external components with FB pin. Can you advise any solution.

  • Hi Maciej,

I think it is not suitable for constant current source control. Because UCC28C42-Q1 use peak current mode control. If you use it in constant current source, then the current will be constant. Feedback control can't be achieved.
