TPS54332: The power source is 4V-input

Hi Sirs,

My customer would like to use the TPS54332 to provide the power to SoC on the USB-C PD product.

The +VCC_ VBUS range is 4~20V, when the test condition is that 4V-in to 3.3V-out with I-out 3A, could you please review the below schematic is available or not?

Or you can suggest an alternative solution to meet this request.

Hello Henry,

Here are my comments on the SCH:

CIN of 10uH is good enough.
Please increase COUT to 2x47uH
VOUT is programmed for 3.33V for accuracy.
for the catch up diode, make sure the Reverse voltage must be higher than the maximum voltage at the PH pin, which is Vin(max) + 0.5 V. The peak current should bigger the IOUT+1/2ILpp.

For USB-C PD, why the VBUS will down to 4V?

What is the min loading in application? 0A?

I afraid TPS54332 cannot support 4Vin to 3.3Vout at 0A loading, it needs to confirm.

Besides, recommend the new part TPS62933, it will be released at the end of December.

For USB-C PD, why the VBUS will down to 4V? => Please refer to the page.38 on the USB4 Thunderbolt3 Compatibility Compliance Test Specification

What is the min loading in application? 0A? => There need to provide 3.3V power to the SoC, so the min loading will not be 0A.
