TPS7B88-Q1: 50Vin spec.

Part Number: TPS7B88-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92520-Q1, LM317HV, LM117HV

Dear Sir/Ms.

My customer puts the LDO in the first stage of the power supply, and allows the LDO to supply power to several TPS92520-Q1 and MCUs. When he tested his board, he found that there was a voltage spike of about 4xV at the input (Vin of LDO). The maximum input voltage of TPS7b88 is 42V, which cannot be placed in the first stage.
His current LDO specification requirements are.
Vin=50V
Vout=5V
Iout=0.4A~0.5A. If possible, 0.5A is best.
Automotive grade.
I can't find an LDO that meets this specification on TI's webpage. Is there any suggestion for an LDO that meets the specification?

Best Regards,

Kami Huang

  • Hi Kami,

    That is a lot of power you are trying to dissipate with an LDO. We don't have too many devices in our portfolio that can truly handle this, the ones that can are non-Q100: LM117HV and LM317HV. Unfortunately we do not have anything automotive grade.

    regards,
