Hi team,
My customer will use TPS25942L and he is asking question about thermal shutdown.
T(TSD) is specified as 160C(typ) whereas absolute rating of Tj is 150C.
Is the device damaged already when thermal shutdown works?
Best regards,

Hi Shato,
No device is not already damaged.
160C is a transient spec. When the device encounters a fault, the junction temperature will rise and the device hits thermal shutdown very quickly before it can cause any damage to the device. It’s not expected the device would see this peak temperature too often over its lifetime and hence shouldn’t pose any reliability concern.
Operating intentionally device at 150C for long time is cause of concern for device reliability.
Does that answer your question?
