Hi Team
The datasheet of the TPS92513 mentions that the current rating is 1.5A but I couldn't find any of that description in the electrical characteristics table.
Is there a clear statement of the current rating in the datasheet?
Regards
David

Hi Team
Could someone please support this case?
Is it safe to let the customer know that the current rating of the TPS92513 is 1.5A?
Regards
David
Hi David,
Sorry for replying so late...
The typical current limit is 6A and device should be safe with inductor current limit is no more than this value. 1.5A is recommended considering of enough thermal safety margin.
Would you mind sharing the application information with TPS92513?
Robin
Hi Robin
Thanks for the response.
Could you check if 2.7A would work for TPS92513? I think this case is more of a R&D and the customer might just want a confirmation that the datasheet is correct.
The end equipment is an eye care equipment and I'm guess the power would be 18V or 12V, not sure about the output voltage as the customer didn't provide me with such info.

David
Hi Robin
Just received a confirmation from the customer.
The input voltage is 24V and the output voltage is 0.8V, with 2.7A.
Could you check if this setup is ok for TPS92513?
Looking forward to your response.

David
Hi David,
Since the voltage convert ratio is extremely low(0.8/24), the switch on time is short. To make sure the switch on time is longer than 140ns(typical value of minimum switch on time), please select low switching frequency.

Hi Robin
Thanks for the response! This should be enough for the customer's evaluation.
One more question though, what would the maximum current be for this application?(24V-0.8V)
Considering that the Vout is quite small I'm assuming that the device should be safe with current no more than 6A, is this understanding correct?

David
Hi David,
6A is the inductor peak current limit instead of output current limit.

Hi Robin

Could you look a bit into it?

Hi David,
It depends on the inductor value, inductor peak current value ,system efficiency and so on. 1.5A should work according experience.
