BQ76930: How to control the positive MOS protection of the battery with the BQ76930

Hi team,

The customer intends to design a solution for battery positive overcharge, overdischarge, short circuit, and overcurrent protection with the BQ76930. So the customer would like to know how the schematic can be changed from the typical line in the bq76940 in the spec? How to improve the circuit if connect to a fuel gauge or a monolithic machine?

Could you help resolve this case? Thanks!

Hello Cherry,

They may have to use the BQ76200 FET driver to implement high-side FETs. I am not aware what a monolithic machine is, could you specify?

I would recommend you tell them to look at our TIDA-00792 reference design. This implements high-side FETs and gauging using the BQ76940.

Hello Cherry,

Yes, that is a possible set-up, the schematic is an example provided in the datasheet for the BQ76200. They can replace the µC with the BQ78350-R1 companion gauge to get gauging for their battery pack. The TIDA-00792 reference design shows an example of this system.
