BQ79616-Q1: probing the UART

The data sheet lists the max min voltages of the COMLP, COMLN, COMHP and COMHN signals as +/-20V. To probe these signals, what do you recommend as a level translator, differential to single ended converter?

Hello Priya,

The COML/H pins are the Vertical InterFace (VIF) signals that send commands and data between BQ79616 devices. They are 2.5V pk-pk signals centered at 2.5V. If you look at them differentially, it would be a 5V pk-pk signal. The +/-20V is the abs max rating of these pins.

Priya,

I don't understand your question. Our VIF communication is described above (and isn't considered to be UART). You can look at either the signle ended signals COMH- or COMH+ and see a 2.5V signal centered at 2.5V, or differentially COMH+ to COMH- and see the 5V signal. Our UART is a 2 wire communication with a transmit (TX) and a receive (RX). I consider both of those to be single-ended already.
