TPS7A8300: PG pin pull-up supply

Part Number: TPS7A8300

Hello team,

My customer consider to use the TPS7A83 and TPS7A73, I have a question about the power good pins pull-up supply.
Can the pull-up supply be used with over the VIN voltage?
In other words, may the device be damaged if the pull-up supply will be over the VIN voltage?

Best regards,

Sato

  • Hi Sato-san,

Yes both devices can have the PG pin pulled up above the Vin voltage. However, when Vin is low (less than ~900mV) the LDO does not have enough input voltage to turn on the open drain FET used to generate the PG signal which will cause the FET to be high impedance the PG to signal high. This will not damage the LDO but the customer should be aware so that this doesn't cause an unexpected behavior in their system.
