BQ79600EVM: Communication with BQ79656EVM

Part Number: BQ79600EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY,

Hello all,

I am trying to use the TI GUI to talk to the BQ76900 EVM and BQ79656EVM. I updated the firmware to the USB2ANY, and I can send wakeup pings to the BQ79600. But the GUI does not appear to be able to detect the BQ79656. The user guide to the BQ79656 does not give detail about the setup, and it does not say what DC voltage to use for powering the BQ79656, so I am kind of stuck.

  • Hi Frank,

We apologize for your experience and we will try to help guide you to resolve this issue.

In the BQ79656EVM Users Guide (www.ti.com/.../sluuc37b.pdf) on page 15 these is an image that shows how to connect power supply to the EVM.

For power supply you can use 18V or higher (up to 80V). Since you are connecting to a BQ79600 board, you can use the twister pair cable to connect the COMMH interface on the BQ79600EVM to the COMML interface on the BQ79656EVM.

Once both EVMs are powered, you can open the BQ Auto Eval GUI and at the welcome screen select:

Once this is completed a Wake tone should wake up both EVMs and you can run the Auto-Addressing process.

    Regards,

    Viktor.
