    Hey Denny, 

    Yes the T2P pin can be connected to ground. It is an active low output, so essentially you are connecting the drain and source of the FET together at RTN which disables operation. 

    T2P pin is used to send downstream to an MCU to indicate if a Type 2 PSE is connected. If a Type 1 PSE is connected, the MCU is supposed to limit the power to 13W. Some customers choose to not do this, which is acceptable but know they are not IEEE802.3.at complaint "Officially."
