TPS1H000-Q1: Surge current with 20A/1ms reality confirmation for TPS1H000A-Q1

Part Number: TPS1H000-Q1

Hi Expert,

TPS1H000A-Q1 was mass production on customer side. For the specific application, there is a surge current on the output of TPS1H000A-Q1. The current is 20A and the duration time is 1ms. Is there any risk for TPS1H000A-Q1 in this scenario? Customer evaluated the life cycle for their product, there are 0.3M times for this surge in whole life cycle of customer's product. Thanks.

  • Hi Songzhen,

During the surge event, is the bus voltage will be staying the same? If there is a large increase in bus voltage, then TVS diode can be placed to bypass the surge current and clamp the bus voltage.

If 20A of current will be on the part, the current limit of the part will kick in in this case. Make sure to check with the customer that the limited current is not an issue for the application. The part itself should be okay in this scenario.

    Regards,
