EV2300-084: EV2300 communicates with BQ28550. Does not recognize BQ28Z610. Data and clock lines show activity.

Using EV2300 to evaluate battery pack.

Device communicates and scans old pack with BQ28550.

Design modified to use BQ28Z610.

SW does not recognize the BQ28Z610.

Data and CLK show activity.

Clock period 15.85us.

Voltage amplitudes - 3.5V

Please advise.

Hello Tim,

bq28z610 uses I2C. It is a newer device and bqStudio software was not tested with EV2300. However i believe that EV2300 will work.

Check the following

1. Connect I2C of EV2300 for communication instead of SMB

2. Make sure that there are external pullups on the communication lines - the EV2300 I2C port does not have internal pullups.
