UCC12040: Can the output current exceed 100mA?

Part Number: UCC12040
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVD888, ISO7741

I want to use UCC12040 as power supply for two channel 5V ISO RS-485(ISO7741+SN65HVD888).

Can the UCC12040 drive these load? what will happen when the output current exceed 100mA?

  • Hi Stanley

You can calculate the total current of ISO7741+SN65HVD888 and ensure that the total current doesn't exceed 100mA. When the output power exceeds the maximum power. The device will limit the maximum output power. If a load exceeding IOUT_MAX is applied, VISO drops accordingly to meet the maximum power limit.
