Genius 4740 points
Part Number: TPS65131-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65131, TLVH431

Our customer is  looking for a power supply IC for LCD drive.

If you have a recommended automotive product with the following specifications, please let us know your solution.

Vin: BATT(12V) or 7.5V or 3.3V

Vout:16V(1mA),-15V(1mA),5.5V(15mA),-5.5V(15mA)

  • Hello,

This is a bipolar source and gate voltage application with high Vin voltage. Unfortunately, we do not have a suitable device for this application but if Vin can be 5.5V or less, one possible solution can be TPS65131 with external discrete charge pump stages to generate +16V/-15V. Please see example of one such design at link below.

    Thank you for your support.

Please let us know about the proposed additional charge pump application.

Are the following factors of output voltage variation that customer should consider?

    - Reference voltage of TLVH431

    - resistance

    - Transistor Vbe

Is there other factor of voltage variation they should think ,please let us know it .

    Regards,

  • Hello Kura,

Please note that the design with additional charge pump stages is an example design and the there is no accuracy specification for the voltages generated using discrete charge pump. The only accuracy specified is for TPS65131device itself which is as per the datasheet. With that clarification, I agree that TLVH431 reference accuracy should be accounted for when estimating accuracy of the voltages produced by charge pump stages. I believe the transistor is included in the TLV regulation loop and its voltage drops should not impact the overall accuracy.

Also note that gate supplies (VGH/VGL) normally do not have a very tight regulation specification so accuracy may not be that critical for these supplies.

    Kind Regards,
