Could TPS61030 work in LDO mode?

Dear all:

If input voltage is 5.25V, output is fixed 5V/2000mA.

As I know, TPS6102X can work at LDO mode.

But TPS61030 didn't showed ths application note in datasheet. Is TPS61030 workable?

it is about 0.5W power dissipation on TPS61030, and is it ok?

Please don't confuse the TPS61020 Down Mode with LDO operation. You are correct that when the TPS61020 input voltage is larger than the programmed output voltage, the IC is able to properly regulate the output voltage. This is accomplished with Down Mode. The TPS61020 still switches like a boost converter. The lower output voltage is achieved by making the synchronous FET very lossy. This is why the efficiency goes down in Down Mode. The TPS61030 is not able to operate in Down Mode. I suggest using a buck converter or a buck-boost converter. The Power Quick Search Tool found at www.ti.com and then clicking on Power Management will help select the correct IC for your application.

What is your Vin range? If it goes lower than Vout, I would recommend the TPS63020 buck boost family. I would not recommend the TPS61030 for this application.
