UC2844: Selection requirements and reference design consultation

Part Number: UC2844
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UC3842, UC3843, UC2843, LM5180
  • Demand: 16-36V input, isolated output 24V current 1.4A

  • I see that the parameter of UC2844 manual is 12-30V input, but when using WEBENCH Designer for reference design, the minimum input voltage is 18V. May I ask whether UC2844 can be designed according to this reference?  Will there be any problems?
  • Which is more suitable, UC2844 or UC3842?  And what's the difference between UC and TL?

  • Hello, Rhea,

The minimum voltage of UC2844, UC3842 is 16V shown in below table.

You can use UC2843 and UC3843 in your application. The only difference between them is Operating temperature range.

The only differences between UC and TL are some electrical parameters specified in the datasheet, they can be interchangeable with each other in most of applications.

  • Thank you very much for your reply!

    1. Now there are some changes in the requirements. The input DC is 16-32V, the output DC is 27.4V, the current is 1.4A, and the power is 40W. Is the model recommended before ok?

    2. Can the integration solution use LM5180?  If not, please recommend one!

    3. I want to use WEBENCH® POWER DESIGNER for reference design, but I have not found LM5180. If the recommended materials have relevant reference, please also help to recommend them

    Thank you very much!

  • Hi, Rhea,

1, Yes, UC2843, and UC3843 can also be used for this requirement.

2, No, The maximum output power that LM5180 can support is 7W, there is no such a device integrated the MOSFET can provide output power up to 40W.
