TPS4H160-Q1: Current limit Ratio and VCL range

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS4H160-Q1, TPS2H160-Q1, TPS1H100-Q1

Hello,

Please provide below data in the table

Part Number Kcl Min Kcl Nominal Kcl Max Vcl Min Vcl Nominal Vcl Max
TPS4H160-Q1
TPS2H160-Q1
TPS1H100-Q1

  • Hi Vishwas,

For these devices we only specify the nominal K_CL.

TPS1H100-Q1 is specified at 2000 while TPS2H160-Q1 and TPS4H160-Q1 is specified at 2500.

Then to find the bounds, use the current sense accuracy numbers to get the bounds of K_CL at the specific current load that you are trying to sense.

For example for TPS1H100-Q1 at 0.5A, you will see a +- 20% range which makes that K_CL_min at 1600, nominal at 2000 and max at 2400.

The V_CL(th) number does not shift significantly across the operating range and so the limiting factor for this calculation is the K_CL variation. The ILIM resistor variation will also add to the inaccuracy.

For more information on current limiting, we recommend looking at this app note: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva859b/slva859b.pdf

    Thanks,

    Shreyas
