5V Regulator, 100mA with a power on delay of approx 30 seconds

Hi,

I am looking for a 5V, 100mA regulator that has a power on delay of 20 to 30 seconds. Currently i am using a comparator to switch the shutdown pin a a standard LDO but was wondering if there is a lower part count option?

Voltage in 12V

Required Output: 100mA

Delay: 20 to 30 seconds power on delay

Package: ideally SOT-23, SOIC (i.e. easy to solder by hand) - maybe a 5V LDO and supervisor IC

Thanks

  • Hi Andrew,

We don't have any parts that can natively do this, but you could get a large delay like this with an RC on the EN pin. However, with it would come with a large resistor which adds noise to the supply side. Some parts have also shown issues when the slew rate on EN is made to be very slow, so this may need to be tested on the bench.

Other than that I'm not sure that there is an easier or smaller solution than what you are already doing.

There's a lot of parts that can support 12V -> 5V @ 100mA in SOIC package, so here's the parametric search tool where you can set all of these as filter criteria to see all of your options.
