Hi team,

My customer is using SOFT_REBOOT to implement software reset of pmic. They found, after 15 times SOFT_REBOOT, the pmic will go into safe recovery state, even they clears the RECOV_CNT to 0 before it is up to 15.

Q1: Is that expected?

Q2: Should they use SOFT_REBOOT to implement software reset?

Hello Hollis,

How are you clearing the RECOV_CNT register? Can you confirm it is actually being cleared?

Writing 0x1F to register 0x84 (RECOV_CNT_REG_2 register) should clear the count.

Hi Michael,

we use below method to clear. Write 1 to RECOV_CNT_CLR bit.

After that, we read the RECOV_CNT register and the readback value is 0. So we believe we already clear the RECOV_CNT successfully.

Hello,

This is not expected behavior. The SOFT_REBOOT will send the PMIC through the safe recovery state, incrementing the recovery counter, as well as through the INIT and BOOT_BIST states before returning to the mission state.

Can you confirm that you are writing the value of 0x1F to the register 0x84 to clear the recovery counter? When the device is in the safe recovery state can you read out the contents of registers 0x83 and 0x84 as well as 0x5A?
