In addition to the references I sent in the first Reply, here is a very informative Application Report:   https://www.ti.com/lit/wp/slva304/slva304.pdf . 

Basically it says the Long Term Storage (LTS) can be longer than 5 years, but needs to be evaluated on a case-by-case bases for each device and the storage conditions BY THE CUSTOMER.  TI cannot determine effects of the storage conditions.  This is described in the Report, please refer this to the customer.

Am I correct in assuming that long-term storage in general IC packaging is basically around five years, depending on storage conditions?

According to the report:

That study which included ATE re-verification of electrical performance, concluded that no reliability or quality issues would result from storage of devices well beyond a 5 year period.
