I want to build 10 kW Power Converter using UCC256404. But I want to be in Full Bridge Topology. Can I use Current transformer in the Inverter power path to derive VCR Signal. If Yes,Please lte me know the scheme to develop VCR.

    Thanks for reaching out to us. 

    The resonant capacitor voltage and resonant current would need to be translated down to ground referenced signals for the controller to understand. There is the additional challenge of translating the HO gate signal to a ground referenced signal in order to drive the low side of the other half bridge. I would say UCC25600 is a better fit for full bridge LLC for analog control. It is a direct frequency control LLC that has two ground referenced gate signals. It will be much easier to realize a full bridge with UCC25600 compared to UCC256404. If digital power is on the table, the you can consider UCD3138 or C2000 for full bridge LLC. Both have examples on ti.com for realizing full bridge LLC.

    How to connect External Boot Strat Driver of 4A Current capacity.If HS Not conncted back to UCC256404, Adaptive dead tiem control will be ost?

    What ius the standard Dead time from the controller?

  • Hi Sudheendra,

    You can connect two single channel external drivers to the UCC256404 as below.

    In this configuration, HS is connected to the switch node. So, you don't loose the adaptive dead time feature.

    The HS pin of the device has to be connected to the switch node to generate the appropriate dead time. If the device don't see ZVS switching at HS pin, the standard dead time will be 1.1us.
