LM5025A: Verify silkscreen information and origin

Part Number: LM5025A

There are two kinds of silk screen information on the material we received, and the position of the positioning space is also different, one is solid and the other is hollow. Can you explain why there are two kinds of silk screen information? How to explain the different positioning holes.

  • Hello Xiaoqian,

The oldest National Semiconductor datasheet I could find did not show how their parts were marked.

As you probably know, TI acquired National Semiconductor back in 2010/2011.  The simplest explanation is the manufacturing location and top markings changed during the transition.

In any case, I will have to ask our Quality and/or Manufacturing groups for assistance identifying these parts and why the pin 1 markers are different.  This will take at least a few business days.  I'm reaching out to these groups today via email and will respond late next week.

    Regards,

    Eric

  • Hello again Xiaoqian,

From our Quality group.  These parts are both produced by TI, but at different manufacturing locations.  Because they are from two different locations the font can be different.  Also, TI allows pin 1 to be indicated by either an indent in the plastic OR a simple laser circle in the marking/lettering.  The exact method is up to the manufacturing location.

The manufacturing information is coded in line 1.  The first two digits of line 1 indicate the year and month:  04 = April 2020, 16 = June 2021.

This is the most I can disclose.  I hope you are comfortable with both parts now.

    Regards,

    Eric
