I am using LM5158 but I just want to get the clarification whether the device works for -48V input supply.I need the output of +5V.So can I use LM5158 to meet the purpose ?

Thanks for you patience, due to Christmas holiday there has been some delay. For this current I would suggest then to use the LM5156, which is very similar to the LM5158 but has an external switch.
