TPS65910: changing from TPS65910A3A1RSLR to TPS65910A31A1RSLR

Genius 12290 points
Part Number: TPS65910

Dear team

We have a product that uses currently uses TPS65910A3A1RSLR with AM3354BZCZD80, but due to supply shortages we would like to use TPS65910A31A1RSLR.

We have seen that there is difference in the way that VRTC is connected in "TPS65910AxUser's GuideForAM335xProcessors"

1) In our design we have the VRRTC (pin 29) output connected to BOOT1 (pin 19), will this be OK for TPS65910A31A1RSLR

2) We are using a separatAM3354BZCZD80 e power supply for supply the RTC of the AM3354BZCZD80, is there likely to be any problems with this?

3) Is there anything that we need to be wary of when changing from TPS65910A3A1RSLR to TPS65910A31A1RSLR

4) Do you think we will need to do any hardware of software changes to do the swap?

Best Regards,
William

  • Hi William,

Thank you for reaching out, and happy holidays. Our engineering team currently has limited staffing now through January 3rd. We will provide feedback no later than January 7th.

    Regards,

    Alex

  • Hi William,

There is only one difference between TPS65910A3A1RSLR and TPS65910A31A1RSLR; and boot mode selection are listed in the tables below. based one them, my answers to your questions are listed below:

    1. If "VRTC (pin 29) output connected to BOOT1 (pin 19)", them BOOT0 should be low for EEPROM sequence.
    2. Keep "external power supply for supply the RTC of the AM3354BZCZD80" should be fine.
    3. No.
    4. If the BOOT1 connection has changed from your original design, please check the EEPROM sequence meets your sequence requirements.

    Thanks!
    Phil
