LM74720-Q1: Difference between two circuit

Part Number: LM74720-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM74722-Q1, LM74721-Q1,

Hi Team,

What is the difference between two circuit? It seems even only have Q1 customer still could achieve load protection. why need to add Q2?

what is the difference of 720/721/722?

  • Hi Amelie,

There is a difference in the orientation of Q1 and Q2 FETs. The body diodes are not in the same direction.

Q1 FET is required for reverse current blocking , input reverse polarity protection

Q2 FET is required for forward current  blocking in condition like Enable low, OVLO

For understating the difference between LM74720-Q1, LM74721-Q1 and LM74722-Q1. You can consider LM74720-Q1 to be the base part

    1. LM74720-Q1 + VDS Clamp Functionality = LM74721-Q1
      • LM74721-Q1 allows for TVS less operation in case of ISO Pulse 1
    2. LM74720-Q1 + faster Gate drive strength = LM74722-Q1
      • LM74722-Q1 is suitable for faster Gate turn ON conditions like Rectification of 200 kHz AC super imposed waveform
