In the TLV62065TDSGRQ1 datasheet, the recommended output inductor value is 1uH, but we found the voltage ripple is not good with this value. A 0.47 uH inductor make the voltage noise better, could we choose 0.47uH instead of 1uH.

Hi,
It is not advisable to use inductor values lower than the datasheet recommendations.
In general, the output voltage ripple depends on the ESR and ESL of the output capacitors. Using ceramic capacitors with low ESR values could help to reduce the voltage ripple at the output. Please let me know if this helps.
Thank you!

Hi,
The inductor might saturate early and would not able to deliver output load current as per the device specifications.
Could you tell me are you using the output capacitors as per the datasheet recommendations?
Thank you!
Best regards
Sneha
Hi Sneha,
Yes,we are using the recommendation output capacitors 10uF. The current in our application is about 1A, but the saturation current of the inductor we are using is about 10A. If this still have problem with smaller value inductor?
Hello user,
As Sneha is out of office I will try to continue the discussion for the time being.
I agree with what was being said, TLV62065 is optimized to use a 1.0uH inductor.
TLV62065 was tested and validated for these conditions.
Though, using a smaller inductor can provide benefits. In this case, you would need to validate your use case for your application.
You can find the associated EVM here: TLV62065EVM
Is the voltage load transient suiting your load ? Is the efficiency good enough ? Output voltage ripple ?
You can have a look at the following content explaining what are the different parameters to look at choosing an inductor:
Also, are you using TLV62065 in FPWM ? You would observe a different DCM/CCM boundary.
Let us know if you have any further questions.
Thanks a lot!

Dorian
Hello,
Do you have further questions/updates related to this thread?
Thank you!

Hi Sneha,
Actuall I cannot open the link that Dorian provided. But right now, efficiency and other factors are not important for this case, the most important is the voltage ripple. Only when I choose the 0.47uF and I can got the voltage satisfy my application. We change the inductor and do some test , not see some bad effect by now.
Thanks a lot for your help
Hello,
