Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5155, LM5122
Hi Expert,
Our customer wants to use LM5155 to output 24V@6A current. The input voltage is 6-18V. Do we have related reference design? If NOT, how can I get the help? Thanks a lot!

Elec Cheng

Hi Elec,
Usually at currents over 4A, we recommend to use a synchronous converter, like the LM5122. I've attached a reference design that you can use as a starting point:

You may also contact the power design services group- (https://infolink.sc.ti.com/business_rooms/worldwide_sales/ti_products_news/b/power_systems/posts/introduction-to-power-design-services)

Hi Richard,
For boost, what's the difference between sync and non-sync? Is the reason the same as in BUCK topology?
thanks

Hi Elec,
Non-synchronous boost uses MOSFET as main switch, and diode as secondary switch. Synchronous boost replaces diode with MOSFET. You may prefer to use synchronous converter for applications requiring higher loads.
Thanks,
Richard
